Kevin Phillips delivers Grady Diangana verdict after West Brom goal v Peterborough

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Kevin Phillips believes that Grady Diangana will have newfound confidence after this goal for West Brom v Peterborough on Saturday.

The Baggies rushed to a 3-0 victory but needed Cedric Kipre to break the deadlock in the 78th minute.

Diangana scored the third of their goals late on in the 89th minute, quashing all hopes of a comeback.

The Englishman did not start the game and was brought off the bench in the second half to wreak havoc in the final third.

His goal certainly impressed Phillips and he claims that it would’ve delighted Valerien Ismael as well.

Phillips told West Brom News, “We know what an exciting talent he is. He has been excellent but he just hasn’t quite been the same this year.

“When you get a goal, it gives you loads of confidence, in a comfortable win against Peterborough.

“The manager will also be delighted that he’s got off the drought (first goal since November).”

This strike was the 23-year-old’s second one in the league in the 2021/22 campaign.

He’s started just 14 of his 23 games thus far and performances like this one could give Ismael some food for thought.
