West Brom boss Ismael rules Dike out with hamstring injury

West Brom boss Valerien Ismael has confirmed that Daryl Dike will undergo a scan following an injury scare against Peterborough on Saturday (January 22).

The striker, 21, picked up a hamstring problem likely to sit him out of Championship meetings against Preston North End and Millwall.

A scan will be carried out today (January 24) to determine the severity of the injury.

“We will see on Monday when he has a scan but for sure the next two games he will miss because we cannot afford to take any risks with him,” said Ismael as per Express & Star.

“After the Millwall game, we have another 11 days so he can have 20 days to get ready for the Sheffield United game if the injury is not too bad.”

Fingers crossed

It is typical of West Brom’s luck this season that Dike finds himself injured after his first start for the team.

Ismael tried to ease the pressure on the players by stating that the Peterborough game was exactly the same as the frustrating Cardiff City draw other than the three goals and points.

Albion were able to win the game though thanks to Dike’s impact up top, giving Championship defenders something completely new to consider when facing the Baggies.

With the injury said to be not so severe, hopefully the American can make a quick and full recovery and continue to find his feet with the team.

It has come at the least opportune time as Albion look to gather momentum after not only winning against Peterborough but scoring three goals.

Hopefully the rest of the team can accommodate for his absence and continue to win as he makes a speedy recovery with no setbacks, fingers crossed.
