Andy Carroll would welcome talks to join West Brom
West Brom are yet to approach Andy Carroll but, when they have got through today’s match against Preston, it seems clear he would welcome a chat, according to The Athletic.
The 33-year-old is a free agent after his short-term deal at Reading expired this month, and while he can re-sign for them, he is open to offers from elsewhere.
Former Baggies former strikers Dwight Gayle and Shane Long have also been linked with a return, and while leaving Newcastle or Southampton respectively on loan this month is not out of the question, their managers are not minded to sanction moves unless they land their own reinforcements.

Chance?
West Brom can always sign Carroll anytime given that he is a free agent, but with Daryl Dike out for eight weeks and set to miss 11 games, Valerien Ismael’s side do not have a lot of time to waste.
The former Newcastle United hitman proved his fitness at Reading after signing a two-month deal upon impressing on trial last November.
He ended up with two goals in eight games, with a pair of screamers disallowed in the space of a minute in his penultimate game for them.
Given that he was being paid only £1,000 per week to play for the Royals, West Brom have a chance of pipping them to his signature by handing him a better deal.

He has been linked with some Premier League clubs already, but an opportunity to help lead Albion up could be more appealing given that he will get a chance to play regularly.
As expected, the club will look to several options as they look to bring a new striker to The Hawthorns before the window shuts next Monday, but they have very little time to get something done, and the Carroll option could make a lot of sense.
In other West Brom news, a major multi-million cash boost for Albion set to happen within weeks after Lai decision.
