Andy Carroll shares first message as West Brom player

Andy Carroll has delivered his first message to West Brom fans since joining the club earlier today (January 28).

The former Premier League striker is expected to make his debut as early as this weekend against Millwall.

His arrival comes after the unfortunate hamstring injury suffered by Albion’s star January signing, Daryl Dike, leaving the American out for as many as 11 matches.

Carroll is eager to get started after arriving at the Hawthorns as a last-minute stopgap.

“I’m absolutely delighted,” he told West Brom. “It’s a great club and I’m hoping there are good things to come.

“When I heard of the interest I thought there was only one thing to do, and that was to drive up here and sign straight away.

“I’ve met the players and I know a few of them already as well. I spoke to the manager yesterday and today. It’s all good and I’m looking forward to getting started.

“I played against the team already this season and I thought they were brilliant. There was a lot of balls in the box and chances created.

“Looking at all the games there’s always chances at West Brom and I believe I can get on the end of them to get some goals and some points for the lads.”

West Brom

Goalscorer.

The Baggies couldn’t have asked for anything more after the soul-destroying injury to January’s number one target, Dike.

The American suffering an injury during his first start for the club is typical, but the signing of Carroll will surely soften the blow.

He is a goal scorer, simple as that. The striker has been involved in 133 goals throughout his career and has shown he has what it takes at the highest level.

Of course, years later that is now quite different, but he has great experience and could be a strong addition to Ismael’s squad.

It was a shock to hear that Albion were in for another forward in the window and the nature of the deal shows just how necessary the business is.

The Baggies are on the verge of dropping out of the promotion places and are in dire need of a fresh attacker up top with the current members of the squad showing all season long that they aren’t quite up to the task.
