West Brom beat Burnley Andy Carroll signing
West Brom have reportedly beaten Burnley in the race to sign former Premier League striker Andy Carroll.
According to 90Min journalist Graeme Bailey, the Premier League side were also in talks to sign the former England international.
However, they could not agree on terms with the former Liverpool striker and he is set to move to the Hawthorns.
The need to sign a forward was accelerated after new signing Daryl Dike suffered a two-month-long injury.
Via his personal Twitter account, Bailey wrote, “West Brom are set to seal deal for Andy Carroll. Burnley had been in talks but could not agree terms. The Baggies needed attacking options after injury to Daryl Dike ruled him out until April.”
Good move?
Given the fact that a player of Liam Delap’s calibre was available, it’s surprising that the Baggies chose to go for Carroll.
The Manchester City youngster has been linked with a move to the Hawthorns in the past and could’ve been a good addition.

In Carroll, they’ve just gone for someone who’s familiar and experienced but not necessarily the most efficient.
This would make the Baggies play a more direct brand of football which is something the fans are already getting restless over.
Whether or not he manages to find a way to play Dike or Jordan Hugill in the same team with him, remains to be seen.
