Steve Bruce to accept West Brom job – Jim White
Steve Bruce will accept the manager’s job at West Brom, according to talkSPORT host Jim White.
Albion sacked Valerien Ismael on Wednesday [2 February] after a rotten run of form saw the club’s automatic promotion hopes die and they’re almost at the point they’re dropping out of the play-off spots too.
Also on Wednesday, Guochuan Lai made himself chairman and appointed Ron Gourlay as the new CEO.

And no time has been wasted in finding Ismael’s success with Bruce now set to accept the manager’s position at The Hawthorns.
“It’s my understanding Steve Bruce has been offered the job at West Brom. It’s my understanding he’ll take the job,” said Jim White on talkSPORT on Thursday [10:34am, 3 February].
Very close
It can only be a matter of time before West Brom are officially announcing Bruce as their new manager.
You have to give Lai and Gourlay some credit here. They’ve sacked a manager who was dragging the club down, they’ve shuffled the pack in the boardroom and they’ve taken decisive action to hire a new manager.
Bruce’s appointment will divide the fanbase, as does almost every single managerial hire at The Hawthorns.
We all saw how his spells at Aston Villa and Newcastle went sideways to the point where he was hounded out of Villa Park and St James’ Park by the fans.
However, he’s a four-time promotion winner from this league and he’s bound to be better equipped to lead a charge to the Premier League than one-trick pony Ismael was.
We’re a bit on the fence in regards to the appointment of Bruce but we’ll see how he does in his first few matches – if he’s hired – to gauge how we’re going to do under his leadership.
In other West Brom news, an ex-Albion midfielder instantly reacted to the news of Ismael’s dismissal on Wednesday.
