Next two games ‘making of West Brom’ says Ian Holloway

West Brom finally picked up their first win under Steve Bruce yesterday as Karlan Grant’s brace helped them beat Hull City 2-0 at the MKM Stadium.

Things have been going rapidly downhill for the Baggies in recent weeks after the sacking of Valerien Ismael at the beginning of February which saw them slip into the bottom half of the Championship table.

Victory yesterday hasn’t seen them improve any further than 13th but they are at least heading in the right direction.

Highly experienced manager Ian Holloway thinks the next two home games will be vital for Albion’s season.

“For me, in my experience, the next two games are the making of West Brom,” Holloway said on Quest’s EFL highlights show.

“They’ve got Fulham and Huddersfield but they need to do it now because there is a lot of traffic in front of them.”

Finally

‘Victory’ is a word that might have become almost foreign to a lot of West Brom fans over the past month or two but no need to search for the dictionary.

Things have been slowly improving game after game under Bruce even if the end results haven’t warranted the points they perhaps should have.

West Brom

The 2-0 win will relieve some of the stress on Bruce and the fans but the best thing to come out of yesterday’s game was the individual brilliance of Taylor Gardner-Hickman.

Supporters have been calling for the Baggies homegrown talent to play in central midfield and the boss decided to listen to the calls and he was rewarded in a big way.

The 20-year-old turned in a man of the match display and also won the penalty that allowed Grant to put the game to bed in the second half.

They can’t get carried away with their first win under the new regime but they can at least go home happy for once knowing they have three points in their pockets.

In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski was blown away by one Baggies player during yesterday’s crucial win.
