Steve Bruce raves about West Brom striker Karlan Grant
Steve Bruce has showered heaps of praise on West Brom striker Karlan Grant after the Baggies earned a 2-0 victory over Hull City in the Championship on Saturday (5 March).
The Baggies boss has suggested that while Andy Carroll hasn’t put a foot wrong, he felt Grant would provide a “different angle” away from home.
The 24-year-old scored twice on the day as Bruce picked up his first win since replacing Valerien Ismael at the club.

Bruce said, as quoted by Express and Star: “I think it suits him playing down the middle, rather than playing to the left,” Bruce continued. “That was always in my thoughts.
“And he has scored a couple of goals which is fantastic for him. I wanted that ability to run in behind. It gave us a different angle.
“Andy has done nothing wrong in the six games he’s been here. But I wanted us to run in behind Hull’s defence and that’s what we got.”
Relief
It was a superb performance from Grant, and arguably his best of the season. The Baggies lost six of their last seven games and the pressure was building on them.
The Atheltic reported that some players even felt that Bruce has been making mistakes, and he has failed to solve the problems left by the previous manager.
In the end, it was a big relief for the Baggies.

Bruce welcomed back Jake Livermore to the side after his four-match ban, and he was brilliant in the middle alongside youngster Taylor Gardner-Hickman.
The decision to drop Carroll and bring in Grant has been vindicated. He opened the scoring after flicking home Alex Mowatt’s fine cross in the 17th minute.
In the second half, Grant scored from the penalty spot after Gardner-Hickman had been brought down by Jacob Greaves.
The victory is likely to provide a new optimism among the players and it can spark new life into their fading play-off hopes.
