Don Goodman reacts to West Brom penalty v Huddersfield in 2-2 draw

Don Goodman has insisted that Sorba Thomas was nowhere near Alex Mowatt as West Brom were awarded a penalty against Huddersfield.

The Sky Sports pundit insisted that the debate will rage on after Karlan Grant smashed home the spot-kick.

That inspired the comeback with the Baggies sealing a point after being two down thanks to a late Andy Carroll header.

Speaking live on Sky Sports, Goodman questioned the reaction of Mowatt after he went down in the box.

“Penalty,” he said at first.

“The debate will rage on, I mean, he’s nowhere near Alex Mowatt’s head.”

Dangerous.

Thomas may not have clattered Mowatt, but there is no way you can swing your boot that high, especially in your own area.

Our midfield maestro was brave throwing his head into the mix and went down to protect himself, with the penalty rightly awarded.

If that is allowed, you would see so many injuries in modern-day football, and the official made the right call.

Goodman insisted the debate will rage on, we don’t see that happening given that it was awarded instantly and with no real complaints.

Thomas and people watching have been in the game long enough to know you will get punished for actions such as that, and he rightly was.
