Marco Silva shocked by West Brom capitulation in Championship ahead of Fulham showdown

West Brom face table-topping Fulham tonight at the Hawthorns, looking to continue this run of form after a shocking period of results.

West Brom found themselves first in the Championship as September came to a close but are now seven points off the play-offs, something that has shocked Marco Silva.

With the Albion looking slightly more resolute of late, they will feel that they can make it difficult for Fulham to come away with anything as they look to bounce back for a run at the play-offs.

Speaking to West London Sport, Silva couldn’t believe what he has seen from the Baggies this season.

“Nothing really surprises me in this competition because it is so tough, but if you ask me if I expected them to be in the position they are now then I would say yes, I am surprised,” he said.

“Apart from two or three players that were there when they were relegated, they have most of the same squad and should be one of the contenders to be near the top.”

West Brom

Not good enough.

Everybody associated with West Brom is aware it’s been a very poor season but perhaps Silva’s comments might inspire the Baggies’ to demonstrate why they should be higher up.

Bruce stated in a pre-match press conference that the West Brom defenders will have to mark Aleksander Mitrovic tightly given he’s scored 35 goals thus far.

The boss said: “We’ll have to defend well against him – we’ll keep him quiet if we can, he’s a good player.”

With Andy Carroll in contention following a goal against Huddersfield, West Brom fans will hope the former England international can give Fulham defenders a difficult time of it.

Let’s hope we can leave Silva speechless after the game tonight.
