Keith Hackett has insisted that Nigel Pearson can expect a letter from the FA and a possible charge after West Brom drew with Bristol City.

The ex-FIFA official admitted that it will depend on his previous record, but that he ran the risk after questioning the integrity of the referee.

Pearson called on the FA to improve the standard of officiating after the Baggies scored late on to draw 2-2 at Ashton Gate.

“Expect a letter from the FA,” he exclusively told West Brom News.

“I think that when you question the integrity of match officials, depending on his record, he may be charged.

“I think, ultimately, I understand his frustration because I do think the standard of officiating is not good enough, we’ve said this regularly.”

Charge?

It looks as though Pearson will be getting reprimanded during the international break, but the Baggies will be fine.

Steve Bruce had few complaints after the game, although he will not have been happy with his side and the result.

Pearson has been around long enough, and he has likely been charged more than enough times to understand that these comments won’t go unpunished.

Hackett has sympathy, though, with officiating throughout the game, not just in England and the Championship, nowhere near good enough.
