What does the future hold for struggling West Brom ace Grady Diangana?

By Marcus Chan

Cast your mind back to September 2020, when West Ham’s announcement of the Grady Diangana transfer to West Brom was greeted with anger from Hammers captain Mark Noble.

He tweeted: “As captain of this football club I’m gutted, angry and sad that Grady has left, great kid with a great future.”

Two years down the line, it seemed that West Ham knew exactly what they were doing, as Diangana’s move to West Brom has been anything but a success.

Diangana enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with West Brom during the 2019/20 season, having been involved in 15 goals in 30 Championship matches.

The expectations on Diangana was as high as ever after the Baggies sealed an £18million deal for English attacker, but the hype drastically vanished as Diangana managed just one goal in 20 Premier League appearances last season.

This season in the Championship, Diangana struggled to hit the ground running again, two goals and a single assist in 35 appearances so far makes grim reading for West Brom fans.

West Brom

Manager Steve Bruce doesn’t seem to be in a mood to give Diangana a chance to regain his confidence, having played just 27 out of a possible 360 minutes in the whole of March.

Although he has been a disappointment since moving to West Brom, it is far too soon to write him off, there has to be a player in there somewhere, players who have trained with him has previously spoken highly about the talented winger.

A move away for Diangana could be on the cards come end of the season, a spell away from the limelight at West Brom could be beneficial, at just 23 years old, it is way too soon to give up on him just yet.
