Kevin Phillips: International break has come at the right time for West Brom and Steve Bruce
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips has insisted that the international break has come at the perfect time for West Brom and Steve Bruce.
The ex-Baggies talisman admitted that the manager will now get time to complete more work in training, and get his injured players back.
Alex Mowatt has been nursing a knock while playing recently, with Daryl Dike and Matt Phillips also being ruled out at The Hawthorns.

“When the international break comes around, it suits some teams and it doesn’t suit others,” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“A team going into the international break with some keys players who need some rest, some recovery to get over injuries, then it’s great.
“This has probably come at the right time for the Baggies, that training time on the pitch for Brucey, it has been full-on since he has come in and this will give him some down time to work with the players to do some tactical and technical stuff.
“It has come at the right time.”

Dike will be the one option that Bruce will be desperate to bring into the fold, with the American not yet used since his arrival.
Having all of these players available and at 100% will make this Baggies’ squad even stronger moving forward, and that should be a warning to the rest.
The final stretch of the season is coming up, and anything can happen in the Championship, we have seen that first hand in this campaign.
Let’s get everyone back to 100% in this fortnight, and go full-tilt for those playoffs – no time for excuses now.
