West Brom want to sign Luton Town forward Elijah Adebayo – report

West Brom hold an interest in signing Luton Town striker Elijah Adebayo, according to Football League World.

However, it is reported that they may face competition from Premier League side Burnley as well as Huddersfield.

24-year-old Adebayo has scored 14 goals for Luton in the Championship this term, as well as registering four assists – and is said to be enjoying the “best season” of his career.

The former Fulham academy graduate joined Luton from Midlands club Walsall during the winter transfer window in 2021.

Adebayo scored 18 goals in 55 league appearances for the Saddlers and has netted 19 times in 52 Luton Town appearances to date.

The Baggies need firepower, there is no question West Brom are lacking some firepower at the top end of the pitch.

Needed.

Karlan Grant has done his part, scoring 14 goals so far this season, but the rest of the team put together has scored just 28 goals.

The Baggies rank 17th in the Championship in terms of goals per game, and with Steve Bruce preferring to set his team up with two strikers. Adebayo could provide a strong partner for Grant.

Standing at 6’4, Adebayo could also offer West Brom a physical presence up top.

However, any attempts to sign Adebayo will likely be predicated on Luton Town not getting promoted to the Premier League. Nathan Jones’ side currently sit 3rd in the Championship table and are well placed to make the playoffs.

Meanwhile, the Baggies currently lie in 12th, seven points off the top six, and look unlikely to mount a promotion charge.

Adebayo also has a contract with Luton Town until 2024, having signed a little over a year ago, with his club also holding an option to extend the deal for a further year.
