West Brom position ‘doesn’t matter’ for Taylor Gardner-Hickman

West Brom midfielder Taylor Gardner-Hickman says he doesn’t care where he plays as long as he is playing for the Baggies.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed a good spell in the starting 11 through recent fixtures which has also seen the club turn their form around for the better, being unbeaten in their last four.

Albion manager Steve Bruce has put his trust in the homegrown talent and so far he has been rewarded but Gardner-Hickman is happy to play wherever he is needed.

“I just love being out there,” Gardner-Hickman said, as quoted by the Express and Star. “I’m just delighted to play and for the manager to show that trust in me.

“I’m happy to do a job wherever.

“I’ve always said, as long as I’m playing it doesn’t matter where because I’ll give my all in whichever position I’m put in the team.

“I’ll always give everything, no matter what. That’s something which has been instilled in me since I was a kid.”

Mr Versatile

A player like Gardner-Hickman is a manager’s dream and Bruce will be cherishing every little quality he has to offer.

To have some equally capable of playing as a wing-back or in central midfield allows for so much flexibility in not just the starting 11 but also the substitutes you can bring on later into the game.

It’s all well and good being able to play in multiple positions but so many footballers these days are willing to unless they are forced there.

The 20-year-old’s willingness to do whatever job is necessary is highly refreshing in the modern game and his versatility is a real asset to the club.

West Brom previously had a similar player in Ainsley Maitland-Niles but he was keen to just play as a central midfielder and that hampered his time at The Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, Albion are chasing the signature of this player enjoying the best season of his career.
