BBC journalist shares what Andy Carroll said about new West Brom contract
Andy Carroll would be “delighted” to sign a new contract at West Brom with his existing deal due to expire in June.
Carroll, 33, joined the Albion on a free transfer in January and has barely put a foot wrong in blue and white stripes.
Speaking to the media after he scored in the 2-0 win over Bournemouth on Wednesday night, Carroll confirmed that he wants a new contract at The Hawthorns but doesn’t reveal any more than that.

BBC Radio WM broadcaster Daz Hale shared what Carroll said via his personal Twitter account on Thursday morning, adding that he believes the ex-Newcastle striker should be signed up.
“When asked about his future after the game last night, Andy Carroll told Rob Gurney, and a few other reporters, he’d be ‘delighted’ if he could stay at WBA, but ‘we’ll just have to wait and see what happens’.
“I suggest they get it done ASAP, or run the risk of being gazumped.”
Get it done
West Brom have dilly-dallied a lot over the years when it comes to contracts.
As we go into this summer, England goalkeeper Sam Johnstone looks set to leave on a free transfer while one of the few players actually worth something – Dara O’Shea – is entering the last year of his deal.
Carroll has done more than enough to prove that he’s worth having his contract extended past the end of this season in his short spell at West Brom.
The ex-England striker has become a candidate for West Brom’s player of the season award after joining from Reading on a free transfer in January.
He’s only scored two goals in his 11 Championship appearances for the Black Country club but the striker’s hold-up play, work rate and ability in the air have been massive lately.
Carroll has played a big role in Albion’s partly-revived form under Steve Bruce and a new deal is a no-brainer now.
In other West Brom news, a staff member has quit the Albion to join Wolves.
