Kevin Phillips: West Brom may make £900,000 mistake with Jayson Molumby, could use money elsewhere
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kevin Phillips has insisted West Brom may make a mistake by signing Jayson Molumby permanently in the summer.
The ex-Baggies talisman admitted that the Albion could be better off using the money elsewhere in the summer.
Joseph Masi has shared recently that the Baggies are expected to pay Brighton £900,000 to keep the Irishman.

“It is [a lot of money],” he exclusively told West Brom News.
“From the outside looking in, you’d kind of think he hasn’t played loads and it hasn’t quite worked out, would you be better off spending that money somewhere else on someone who has got the experience of the Championship, who has probably been promoted and knows what it takes to get out of it.
“Nowadays, £900,000 isn’t a lot, but from West Brom’s point of view, it’s a business, you have to be careful where you’re spending your money at.
“It’s not quite worked for him so maybe it’s an area they can use that money to bring someone else in.”

This deal was made when Valerien Ismael was in charge of the Baggies when the loan move was approved.
Now with Steve Bruce in charge, it looks as though nothing has changed at The Hawthorns in the upcoming summer.
Molumby hasn’t exactly set the world alight since his loan move from Brighton, and he will need to transform quickly in order to justify this upcoming pay-out.
