Steve Bruce has no plans to sign new goalkeeper at West Brom – report
Steve Bruce has no plans to sign a new goalkeeper at West Brom in the upcoming summer transfer window.
That’s according to the Express and Star, who have shared the news despite Sam Johnstone being destined for the exit now.
It is shared that David Button is locked in talks for a new deal, and will challenge Alex Palmer and Josh Griffiths for the number one spot.

This is a bold move.
It would mean that the Baggies are going into next season with three goalkeepers who have rarely played consistently in the Championship.
Palmer and Griffiths haven’t at all, apart from games here and there throughout the lower divisions.
As for Button, he would likely be number one after years of playing understudy for the Albion, Brighton and even Fulham.

Farewell.
At least there is no controversy regarding whether or not Johnstone could be sticking around, and we can prepare for that.
We may as well leave the England international at home for the rest of the campaign, and reward Button with a consistent starting spot ahead of next season.
That would prove to him that he is right to sign a new contract if that is what the club wants him to do.
It wouldn’t be showing much confidence in the former Brighton man if we weren’t confident enough to play him when the games mean nothing.
Bruce must have big plans for elsewhere in the team, with the defence and midfield two areas that will certainly need looking at.
