West Brom want midfielders with creativity in summer window says Steve Bruce
Steve Bruce has been outlining the likely transfer policy for West Brom if he remains in charge, with creative midfielders at the top of his shopping list.
The Baggies have been woeful in front of goal all season and on current statistics are underperforming on their expected goals by 22 (67xG, 45 actual), one of the worst comparisons in the Championship.
Speaking with The Express and Star, the 61-year-old is planning a big overhaul of his squad if he remains in charge and has already made up his mind on where most needs strengthening.

“I think it’s fair to say we have to be a bit more creative. We have to score more,” the newspaper quoted him as saying (April 14).
“That’s no disrespect to what we’ve got, but we have to add a bit of balance and flair to the squad because we need it.
“We need to find a couple of midfielders who can be a bit more creative.”
Huge Task
Regardless of who’s in charge come the first day of next season, it’s fairly obvious the areas which West Brom need to bring bodies in.
An embarrassing conversion rate of chances has blown any realistic hopes of an immediate return to the Premier League, and a short term signing of Andy Carroll isn’t the answer that’s going to change that situation.
Bruce might not even be here for much longer so the board need to decide fairly swiftly if they want to get rid after his disappointing start or back him in the market to give it a proper go next season.

If they go with the latter, it’s crucial that both club and manager pick the right personnel to significantly improve the Baggies output going forward.
The alternative is another season of mediocrity and disappointment for all Albion faithful.
In other West Brom news, Bruce is worried about the fitness of one of his key players.
