Steve Bruce could still be axed by West Brom at end of the season – Steve Madeley
West Brom could still make the decision to sack Steve Bruce before the start of next season, despite the manager admitting current plans have him sticking around.
That’s according to Steve Madeley of The Athletic, who has insisted that the final three games of the season could change things.
The journalist did admit that it would take something very “dramatic” for that to happen though at The Hawthorns.

Writing in his latest Q&A for The Athletic, Madeley shared that it would likely take a disaster to change things.
“This is a cliched thing to say but true: results are everything in football,” he wrote. “So, could things change if the final 3 games of the season go really badly? It’s possible in theory.
“But as it stands I believe both Bruce and the club are pressing ahead on the basis he’s staying in charge and I think it would take something dramatic to change that.”

Drama.
Let’s be honest, Bruce confirming that he is set to stick around at the club into next season means nothing at this stage.
This is West Brom, we know how something can change overnight and a huge decision such as sacking someone can happen easily.
Guochuan Lai picking consistency is a good step though, and hopefully, he can back Bruce going into the summer for a big step next season.
Bruce sticking around will give us a manager who has evaluated the squad, and can make the decision on who can stay and who can go.
There are some huge decisions to make in this squad, and there are plenty who need to be shown the exit door.
Hopefully, Bruce is the man to do that and we have seen that he can be brutal before in his long career in management.
It’s time to get to work now.
