Big Andy Carroll call in 3 changes - West Brom confirmed XI v Reading

West Brom have confirmed their starting XI for their Championship clash against Reading this afternoon [April 30] at the Madejski Stadium.

With two games left to play, Steve Bruce will be looking to end the season in a positive fashion to somewhat soften the blow of missing out on the playoffs.

Confirmed on Twitter prior to kick-off, the Albion boss decided to bring Kyle Bartley, Matt Phillips and Grady Diangana back into the starting XI in three changes.

Next season.

These last two games have absolutely nothing riding on them but Bruce will be desperate to finish the season strong and so should the players.

It will be crucial for the team’s momentum going into next season – ending the season on a high or as high as physically possible.

Nobody wants to come in for pre-season with bad memories of the last few games played and wins against Reading and Barnsley will hopefully go a long way in improving the mood around the Baggies camp.

Make no mistake, nothing that Albion can do in the last two games will change this car crash of a season.

It has been nowhere near good enough all season long by the majority of the squad – hence where West Brom find themselves in the league table.

Bruce has a major rebuild on his hands if things are to improve next year. The squad is in desperate need of fresh, younger faces who have the drive, energy and most importantly the quality to maintain a promotion push which most of this squad clearly don’t.

These last two games and the several that came before will hopefully open the manager’s eyes to who is up to the task next season and who needs kicking out of the back door at the Hawthorns.

In other West Brom news, Albion “won’t be popular” after Andy Carroll’s exit according to Chris Lepkowski.
