Steve Madeley shares what West Brom trio did at the final whistle v Reading
West Brom won 1-0 against Reading away from home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Karlan Grant scored the only goal of the match to take the Baggies into the top half of the table.
The Athletic journalist, Steve Madeley, has shared that the debutant Zak Ashworth, was congratulated by his teammates after his final whistle.
Madeley wrote on Twitter: “Nice to see unused sub Taylor Gardner-Hickman and unused squad member Caleb Taylor looking genuinely pleased for Zak Ashworth on making his Championship debut. Hugs and high fives as the trio go over to the away fans.”
It was a brilliant result in the end, although the performance could have been better.
It took the Baggies 78 minutes to break the deadlock with the goal coming from Karlan Grant who scored his 16th of the season.
West Brom have been really poor away from home this season but they have given their fans something to cheer about in an otherwise very dull campaign.
It was West Brom’s first away win in four matches, and Steve Bruce will be looking to end the campaign on a high when they take on relegated Barnsley next Saturday.
The performance of the youngster has been really impressive. Conor Townsend appeared to have picked up a knock and that provided the opportunity for the 19-year-old to replace him in the second half.
It was really nice to see that other West Brom players quickly congratulated him after the game, and made him feel comfortable.
He has certainly made his case to play the next game, but it remains to be seen whether Bruce decides to send him away on loan next season.
