Chris Lepkowski moots West Brom move for Newcastle youngster Elliot Anderson
Chris Lepkowski believes he wouldn’t be surprised if West Brom make a pitch to sign Newcastle youngster Elliot Anderson next season.
The 19-year-old midfielder turned hero for Bristol Rovers on Saturday (May 7) where he’s out on loan.
He scored the seventh goal in a 7-0 win that saw Rovers seek automatic promotion to League One ahead of Northampton.
Via his personal Twitter account, Lepkowski wrote, “Wouldn’t mind seeing this lad at #wba next season. And wouldn’t be surprised if we pitch for him.”
Before the game, Elliot was already making headlines as he won the EFL Young Player of the Month for April.
He had scored three goals and provided another two assists in what was a productive month.
When he joined, Rovers were sitting mid-table, with automatic promotion a distant dream.
However, he managed to turn fortunes around for them and definitely would be an asset for the West Brom team.
The club will be looking for at least two or three midfielders next season and Elliot on loan would not be the worst option.
Newcastle would love for him to be part of a big Championship club that’s expected to challenge for promotion.
Whether or not what Lepkowski says and wants proves to be true, remains to be seen.
