Steve Bruce shares big West Brom regret as season ends in disappointment
West Brom manager Steve Bruce has revealed ‘regret’ in not being able to turn things around quickly enough to lead the team back to the Premier League.
The 61-year-old was appointed as the manager of the Baggies on February 03, 2022, on an 18-month deal as a replacement for Valerien Ismael.
Bruce was quoted in a report by Express & Star where he remains optimistic about taking the club back to the top-flight in English football in the 2023 campaign.

“My regret is that wasn’t able to turn things around quick enough,” he said.
“I couldn’t arrest the slide. Did I try and do too much too quickly? Possibly, the decisions we made in the first month will bug me. But I’ve nearly had five promotions, I’m determined to make it a fifth if I can, let’s try.
“We’ve got a big summer ahead so let’s hope we can get the right players in.”

Under pressure?
Bruce will be once again under pressure come the start of the next campaign after having a slow start to his time at the Hawthorns.
The 61-year-old was heavily criticised during his last job at the Newcastle United where he was eventually sacked in October last year after more than two years in charge once the new owners came in and replaced him with Eddie Howe.
Ever since his arrival at the new club, Bruce managed the Baggies in 17 matches in the Championship where they just won six, lost seven and drawn four, accumulating a total of 22 from a possible of 41 points.
Those results were just not good enough for West Brom who at the time of Bruce’s arrival were placed in the sixth position with 45 points after 29 matches but eventually ended the campaign at the 10th position on the league table — outside of a place in the playoffs spot — with 67 points after 46 matches, eight behind sixth-placed Luton Town.
