West Brom eye move for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff

West Brom are looking to sign Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff in the summer transfer window, according to a report from Football League World.

The Baggies are likely to face competition from Watford who have dropped down to the Championship after getting relegated last season.

Longstaff has a contract at the club till the end of this month, and he could leave the Magpies as a free agent.

Reunion with Bruce

Longstaff has been offered a new deal but he is yet to agree to it.

Newcastle have been trying to persuade him to sign a new deal for a while, and it seems his future lies elsewhere.

The Baggies are looking to add new players this summer, with bolstering the midfield a priority for them.

Steve Bruce could look to return to his former club to sign Longstaff, who probably needs to leave to resurrect his career.

The 24-year-old defensive midfielder has managed 25 appearances in all competitions last season, including 15 starts in the Premier League.

Martin Keown once said that he could be better than Declan Rice, but his career has taken a dramatic downfall in recent years, with injuries playing a big part [The Atheltic].

Manchester United once tried to sign Longstaff and Newcastle valued him at £50 million at that time. A serious knee injury has stunted his development.

Under Bruce at Newcastle, Longstaff failed to deliver consistently and only shown in patches.

However, he is still a fantastic player, and Bruce must get him on board if he indeed leaves the club.

In other West Brom news, a move for Sam Johnstone is now looking “unlikely” for two Premier League sides, narrowing his future prospects considerably.
