West Brom face wait as transfer target Jed Wallace to decide future after wedding

West Brom transfer target Jed Wallace is to wait until after his upcoming wedding to decide his future, with the Baggies reportedly keen on the midfielder.

It had been reported by the Sun’s Alan Nixon on Sunday [22 May] that the Baggies have opened talks with the attacking midfielder.

However, Wallace has revealed that any talks on his future will be shelved until his marriage is complete.

Talking on the Not the top 20 Podcast [quoted by the Express and Star], Wallace said: “I always said from February/March time, I wanted to finish the season – see where Millwall finished, get married and then think about what I am going to do after that.

“That’s not really changed”

Hold their nerve

If the Baggies have a chance of signing Wallace, then they must wait until the influential midfielder is ready to consider his future.

Wallace was a revelation in his early career at Portsmouth and has been a consistent creative source for Millwall for the past six years.

At 28-years-old, his next move will be one that will give him the best chance of achieving Premier League football before his career starts to decline.

Wallace would solve some of the goalscoring woes that are present at the Hawthorns.

He can play across the attacking midfield positions and has notched six goals and 13 assists this season for the Lions.

Steve Bruce’s side were the Championship’s sixth lowest scorers last season and desperately need a regular source of attacking output to mount a promotion challenge next season.

Bruce will need a fast start to the season to prevent the Hawthorns’ faithful from turning on his side.

Signing a proven Championship attacker would be a big boost for Bruce.
