West Brom ace sends stark warning to teammates after 2021/22 nightmare

Jayson Molumby has reflected on a disappointing 2021/22 season for West Brom whilst sending his teammates a stark message for the future.

Steve Bruce led Albion to a rather underwhelming tenth-place finish in the Championship in the last campaign, missing out on a place in the playoffs by eight points.

With the goal for the Baggies almost always to get back to the Premier League, the midfielder targeted “big things” for the 2022/23 campaign.

“Last season was disappointing for the entire club,” he said as per Express & Star.

“We have high expectations at West Brom. We are a Championship club that expects to achieve big things.

“Overall, I thought I did decently. When I played, I did alright. You need a run of games and I got that towards the end of the season.

“I started to feel that my performances showed that. I was happy with my end to the season but overall, as a club, we have to do better.”

Hope.

Last season was a horror show. Valerien Ismael seemingly sucked the life out of all the players and in return the fans before his much-needed departure from The Hawthorns.

Fair play to the West Brom chiefs – they tried to embark on a long-term journey with the Frenchman but he clearly wasn’t the right man for the job and now they are essentially back to square one with Bruce on a short-term deal.

The ambition has to be respected but it didn’t quite work out but it doesn’t matter how you get back to the Premier League, as long as you do it.

Of course, Bruce struggled initially as proven with Albion only finishing tenth despite his many months as the boss but it isn’t all his fault.

The squad needed a major revamp and hopefully, that is something that can be done over the summer.

Give the former Newcastle man the right tools and he will succeed. After all, nobody has been promoted to the topflight more times than he has as a manager.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies must move for a former fan favourite with his club reportedly open to offers for him in the summer.
