West Brom beat Burnley to sign Jed Wallace

West Brom have won the race to sign Millwall attacking midfielder Jed Wallace, according to a report from The News.

The report (22 June) suggests that the 28-year-old winger is “set to complete a move” to The Hawthorns. He is set to undergo his medical on Wednesday.

The Baggies appear to have beaten the likes of Burnley, QPR, Luton, and Watford to secure his signature.

Smart addition

Wallace is out of contract at Millwall this summer, but he was offered a very good deal to stay put.

He was also wanted by newly-promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest, while Turkish outfit Besiktas were also keen.

If he completes the move, he will become the second major signing of the summer for West Brom, after the club already signed John Swift, following his exit from Reading.

Wallace enjoyed a fantastic six-year spell at The Den where he managed 90 goals and assists from 253 appearances.

He was impressive last season (2021-22) where he scored six and assisted 11 league goals.

His signing could have a big bearing on the Albion squad. Steve Bruce has already signed two premier quality players on free, and the squad is shaping up nicely.

West Brom are already at a disadvantage over other rivals as they don’t have enough money to spend this summer, so they’ll have to be smart in their dealings.

In other West Brom news, interest is growing in a hot Baggies prospect who could make a move this summer.
