Alan Nixon: West Brom are winning the Championship transfer race

The Sun’s Alan Nixon believes that West Brom are “winning so far” when it comes to transfer dealings that have taken place in the Championship this summer.

The Baggies confirmed the signing of Jed Wallace to join fellow Championship attacking talent John Swift in making the move to The Hawthorns.

Steve Bruce’s early transfer dealings have certainly caught the eye with Nixon claiming that the Baggies are ahead of the rest when it comes to their early activity.

Nixon wrote on his personal Twitter account on Thursday: “[West Brom] need more… and Bruce knows that… but winning so far.”

Bang on

When you bring in two of the Championship’s best and most proven attacking talents on free deals, it is hard to argue that the Baggies aren’t winning at the moment.

West Brom weren’t that bad defensively last season, it was their lack of potency in attacking areas that really let them down in the second half of the campaign.

With the jury still very much out on Bruce, it was important for the West Brom boss to get off to a fast start in the transfer window and he’s done exactly that.

He’s used his experience to lure two of the Championship’s best to The Hawthorns and bring a sense of excitement back to the Baggies.

Bruce will be expected to hit the ground running when the Baggies get their 2022/23 Championship campaign underway against Middlesbrough at the Riverside.

If he doesn’t get off to a good start there will be little hiding room for the Baggies manager.

The Hawthorns’ faithful will certainly not be patient if things don’t go to plan.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are set to battle Manchester United to sign an exit-bound Premier League goalkeeper this summer.
