West Brom set to finalise signing of Tom Lawrence this week
West Brom are reportedly set to finalise the free agent signing of exit-bound Derby County striker Tom Lawrence this week.
According to Sun journalist Alan Nixon, the 28-year-old Englishman will become the Baggies’ third major signing of the summer after John Swift and Jed Wallace.
Despite there being interest from elsewhere, Brom appeared to have won the race and will finalise the signing in the next couple of days.
Nixon wrote, “Steve Bruce is homing in on signing Tom Lawerence – the third major free transfer capture for West Brom.
“Bruce is winning the race for the Welsh attacking midfielder who is quitting Derby County and keen to join.
“Albion have already signed John Swift and Jed Wallace by offering the best terms on the market for them.
“Lawrence has rival interest but Baggies should be able to finalise the move in the next couple of days.”
Without spending a bucket load of money, the Baggies look to be in a decent position in the transfer market.
They have addressed the areas they desperately needed to and while work is still to be done, fans will be delighted at the canny way they’ve got deals over the line.
Having Steve Bruce at the helm certainly does help as he’s a respected name in management and has the track record of promotions.
Hopefully, now that he’s getting the players he wants, a top two finish must be on the cards and the Baggies need to be there or thereabouts since the first game week.
Lawrence will add goals and offer a different dimension in the final third.
His experience in the Championship is going to be vital and he will also bring his leadership through the door at the Hawthorns.
Exciting times ahead for the Hawthorns faithful.
