West Brom could accept Callum Robinson loan departure, Preston keen
West Brom could be tempted to let attacker Callum Robinson leave the club on loan this summer, according to The Mirror journalist Darren Witcoop.
The 27-year-old was one of the Baggies’ most productive attackers throughout the 2021-22 campaign scoring eight goals and providing nine further assists in 44 games across all competitions.
Steve Bruce, however, is keen to revolutionise the West Brom squad he inherited from Valerien Ismael and the Republic of Ireland international could be one of the players who falls by the wayside.
There is a good chance that Albion will allow Robinson to join a Championship rival too with Ryan Lowe at Preston North End particularly keen on the Irishman.
“West Brom forward Callum Robinson is attracting interest from a host Championship clubs,” Witcoop said via his personal Twitter account. “Robinson could be allowed to leave on loan with old club Preston among those watching developments.”
Robinson’s impact on the West Brom side became less and less as the season wore on and Bruce changed the way the team played for the better.
Karlan Grant quickly became the main man as a striker and it was often left to the Baggies’ number seven to do the dirty work elsewhere which is not where his game is at its best.
It’s a shame that we couldn’t pay Chelsea this year where he tends to get his customary two goals per game from but we can’t be keeping him around on the off chance we get drawn against Thomas Tuchel’s side in the FA Cup or Carabao Cup.
We could see loaning him to Preston as strengthening a divisional rival but crucially, he can’t play against his parent club due to Football League rules which means he can’t come back and score against us at least.
What he could do to help our hopeful promotion push is bang in the winner against the other sides battling towards the top of the table but let’s hope he doesn’t do too well and get the Lilywhites up ahead of us.
