West Brom face Bundesliga competition for Okay Yokuslu

West Brom face competition from a Bundesliga side for the signing of free agent Okay Yokuslu as reported by The Athletic’s Elias Burke.

It had been revealed by The Telegraph’s John Percy on Tuesday 12 July via Twitter that there was “growing optimism” that a deal could happen for the 28-year-old.

However, Burke has suggested on Tuesday 12 July that there is also interest from a Bundesliga side for the Turkey international who is now a free agent after leaving Celta Vigo.

The 28-year-old enjoyed a stint at The Hawthorns in the second half of the 2021/22 campaign.

Good business

This looks to be a good piece of business by the Baggies hierarchy with yet another free agent potentially coming through the door at The Hawthorns this summer.

Yokuslu made 16 appearances when on loan at West Brom in the Premier League and looks to be an upgrade on what the Baggies have in midfield at present.

Playing in the Championship could see the 28-year-old thrive considering he has previously spent time playing in England’s top flight.

Bruce is certainly adding lots of experience to his West Brom squad this summer with John Swift the youngest addition at 27.

West Brom

With Yokuslu being another free agent it is clear that Steve Bruce is having to wheel and deal in the transfer market to make room in his squad.

If the 28-year-old gets a decent offer from the Bundesliga it will be interesting to see where he ends up this summer and whether the Albion can fight off a more lucrative offer from elsewhere.

In other West Brom news, Albion did make a huge offer for a Brazilian ace but they face a challenge from Norwich City.
