Carlton Palmer backs Daryl Dike to score ’20 goals’ for West Brom next season

Carlton Palmer believes that West Brom striker Daryl Dike has the ability to score close to 20 goals in the upcoming season.

The 22-year-old had a difficult beginning to his career at the Hawthorns after joining the club in the January transfer window from Orlando in a deal worth £7.77 million.

Palmer, while talking to Football League World, stated that Dike will be a much better player in the upcoming campaign after taking part in a full pre-season.

“Over the course of his career he’s scored one every two games,” he said.  “You know, when he came in last season it was a difficult one.

“He was playing in Orlando and it’s not going to be the same as the level of playing in the Championship fitness-wise and he ended up picking up a hamstring injury.

“He’s had a good pre-season, he scores one in two, I think he’s anywhere near 20 goals for the season.”

Steve Bruce will have a huge task of taking back West Brom to the Premier League and if he has to achieve that, Dike will have to play a huge role as the club will be banking on his abilities in the final third to get crucial goals.

The 21-year-old scored 11 goals in 19 appearances in the MLS for Orlando City last year. He played a total of 1415 minutes for the American club last season [Transfermarkt].

As a result of his performances, he received his first international cap for the United States. As the World Cup is around the corner, the 22-year-old will be eager to prove his credentials for his club team which would go a long way in cementing a place in the squad of the national team.

Despite his preference to play as a centre-forward, he can also play as a right winger due to his incredible pace and dribbling skills.
