Nigel Quashie praises 'beast' Daryl Dike in West Brom draw v Middlesbrough

Former West Brom midfielder Nigel Quashie enjoyed the team’s performance in the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough and singled out ‘beast’ Daryl Dike for praise.

The Baggies opened up their Championship season with a 1-1 draw at the Riverside Stadium, with debutant John Swift scoring a second half equaliser after a tough opening 45 minutes saw them a goal down.

But speaking after the game it was American international Dike who got singled out for praise by Quashie on his personal Twitter account, after his substitute appearance saw the game swing in West Brom’s favour.

“Took time to get going. I know it’s 3-4 games to get up to speed. 2nd half was there for the taking, to get a point away from home gets the group off the mark.

“Nice to see new signings Wallace and Swift combined for the goal.

“Dike looks a beast!

“Ajayi my MOM!”

Impressive

The game changed on it’s head as soon as Dike came on with just 12 minutes left and it was West Brom who looked the more likely to take all 3 points towards the end of the game.

Physically he was far too big and strong for the opposition defenders, while he ran the channels well and was able to hold the ball up and bring the midfield into play too.

It was a surprise to see him left on the bench for the opening game of the season considering he’s fully fit after a complete pre-season, but he showed why he won’t be there for long.

West Brom take on Watford in their first game at The Hawthorns this season next Monday and the introduction of Dike into the lineup will make them a far more dangerous outfit.

It’s a huge season for the £7m man, and he’s got off to a good start despite the minimal opportunity in the opening game.
