West Brom may have to wait to secure Daniel Iversen purchase

Steve Bruce is on the hunt for a new goalkeeper but West Brom may be made to wait as a Premier League club are set for an emotional exit.

The Baggies are interested in signing Leicester City shot-stopper Daniel Iversen [Alan Nixon] after the 25-year-old played every single Championship game on loan at Preston last season.

But while Albion would like to get a deal done quickly, the Foxes could now be forced to wait as they appear set to lose their club captain and stalwart Kasper Schmeichel.

According to Santi Aouna, Leicester have reached an agreement with Nice for the sale of the Danish international with a medical planned to take place next week.

With Brendan Rodgers down a goalkeeper, they might not be so willing to let another leave so soon with the new Premier League season rapidly approaching on 6 August.

West Brom won’t be overly concerned though having already played one game with David Button between the sticks and Bruce may be content to trust in the new Albion number one if he can’t get Iversen through the door at The Hawthorns relatively soon.

He also has Alex Palmer ready to go as the club’s backup and if both of those suddenly hit woes, he could always recall Josh Griffiths from his loan.

It is now a test of patience for Bruce and West Brom after their reasonable start to the Championship season at Middlesbrough where Button didn’t put a foot wrong and could argue that he doesn’t deserve to be replaced at the first opportunity.

In other West Brom news, the stalemate between the Baggies and Callum Robinson could find a breakthrough this week with another second-tier club needing a new striker.
