West Brom: Elias Burke reacts to question on Daryl Dike injury

The Athletic’s Elias Burke has reacted to a question regarding West Brom striker Daryl Dike’s injury as speculation grows over the American’s fitness.

Former head of media at The Hawthorns Chris Lepkowski sparked the rumours on Twitter on Sunday 7 August suggesting that the Baggies could be in need of another striker.

Burke has since reacted to the news of Dike’s potential injury on his personal Twitter account.

The Athletic reporter for West Brom has revealed that nothing has been “confirmed” regarding the American’s fitness as of yet.

Big loss

Losing Dike would be a massive loss for the Baggies, with Steve Bruce hardly blessed with a plethora of striking options at present.

The physical forward is a good option and a presence up front and could well thrive this season with the likes of John Swift and Jed Wallace supplying him.

Dike’s injury could well force Bruce’s hand and make him sign a striker in the coming weeks to give his side a chance of easing their goalscoring woes from the 2021/22 campaign.

West Brom

The Baggies had a good defensive record last season and should be looking to base any success they have this season on their solid base.

A prolific striker tends to be the toughest position to fill and the West Brom boss will certainly have his work cut out as he looks to add to his squad.

Potentially a younger player from a lower league or a Premier League loan could be a route for Bruce to look down in his striker search.

In other West Brom news, this Manchester United teenager has piqued the interest of Steve Bruce but there is a lot of competition over a loan signing
