West Brom want to make more free transfers with Tom Rogic deal close

West Brom are keen to make the most of the free transfer market with more additions targeted in the coming weeks, according to Football League World.

The Baggies have already agreed on terms with former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic who was released by the Scottish champions at the end of last season and failed to find a club during the transfer window.

The Australian international could well just be the first of a handful of free agents who make the move to The Hawthorns with Steve Bruce reportedly keen to make the most of the under-appreciated market.

West Brom

Four of the six West Brom signings during the summer window came on a free transfer with only Jayson Molumby and Brandon Thomas-Asante costing the club a penny in transfer fees.

John Swift, Jed Wallace, Okay Yokuslu and Martin Kelly were all signed for nothing except a signing on fee and wages with Rogic set to become the fifth on the list of the 2022 summer.

Thrift-spenders

It was always going to be a summer of little spending for West Brom after they splashed so much of their cash on Daryl Dike in January, only for him to get injured also immediately.

But perhaps some weren’t ready for just how little the club have spent and the few new recruits that came in after what was an incredibly disappointing 2021-22 campaign.

West Brom

There were hopes of an immediate bounce back to the Premier League but Albion were closer to League One for much of the season which led to Valerien Ismael’s sacking.

So maybe this change of tactic in the transfer market is exactly what the doctor ordered for West Brom and the actually good players are just waiting to be signed whenever the mood takes them.

Rogic is one of many free agents who would vastly improve the squad at The Hawthorns and Bruce may have to sign more of them to really challenge this time around.

In other West Brom news, this outgoing Baggie sent a heartfelt message to Albion fans after he sealed his exit from The Hawthorns on deadline day.
