West Brom ace Grady Diangana named in Championship team of the week
West Brom forward Grady Diangana has been named in the Sky Bet Championship team of the week for his performance in the defeat to Swansea at the weekend.
The Baggies were beaten again to keep them in a relegation battle, with just one win from the opening 11 games of the season so far.
But the former England Under-21 international did get on the scoresheet with a fine strike from inside the box before the team conceded two late goals and was electric throughout, earning him a spot on the left wing in the official team of the week.
Despite being an attacking threat throughout, the 24 year old won more tackles than anyone else on the pitch (3, level with Tom Rogic) and was also the Baggies player with the most dribbles completed too.
He also took the most shots in the game with three, proving that he was well deserving of his place.
Finally
Diangana was a great hope when he signed but anyone who says he hasn’t been a bit of a disappointment since joining would be lying to themselves.
But this season he has come alive somewhat and been one of the better performers in an underperforming side, so it’s nice to see him getting credit for it.
Bruce hasn’t got a lot right this season, but the way he’s been able to get him back firing has been a help to the side and has set the blueprint for any future manager to get the best from him too, because he makes the team better.
If we can start getting some more output from him, in terms of goals and assists, it would really boost the team to be able to get out of the position they’re in and start pushing up the table where they’re supposed to be.
This squad is far too good to be where it is, but at least Grady is performing to an acceptable level right now.
In other West Brom news, Bruce may have been given a big lifeline after news elsewhere in the league
