Nigel Quashie questions West Brom players after sacking of Steve Bruce
Nigel Quashie believes it “doesn’t make sense” that Steve Bruce became the latest West Brom manager who failed to get the best out of this group of players.
The 61-year-old was sacked from his role on Monday, 10 October, after the Baggies’ horrendous start to the 2022/23 campaign.
Reacting to the development on Twitter, the 44-year-old stated that his former club should never be in the relegation zone with their current crop of players.
“There’s no way West Brom should be in the relegation zone with these players,” he wrote.
“Another manager has left and makes you wonder why they can’t get the best out of this group. Time will tell whether it’s the managers or players because it doesn’t make sense.”
Right call
West Brom started the season as one of the favourites to be competing for promotion this season, especially after the kind of players signed in the summer.
However, all of that excitement has completely vanished after the side’s disastrous start to the 2022/23 campaign where they are placed in the relegation zone after just one win in 13 matches.

Just 11 points after more than 25 per cent of the season matches played, it seems like their bid to get promoted back to the Premier League is as good as over and it will be even extremely hard for the Baggies to replicate what they did last season where they finished 10th on the league table.
Bruce departed The Hawthorns after managing 32 matches where he managed to lead the side to just eight wins whereas the team suffered 12 defeats and the same number of matches ended in a stalemate [Transfermarkt].
Something has to change.
In other West Brom news, Chris Lepkowski has scolded what he brands as a “rancid, horrible bunch” that have made the Baggies dressing room toxic.
