‘Very difficult’ to argue case for Steve Bruce after getting sacked by West Brom – Simon Jordan

Simon Jordan believes it is “very difficult” to argue the case for Steve Bruce after getting sacked by West Brom.

The 61-year-old was relieved of his duties by the Baggies on Monday, 10 October, after a disastrous start to the campaign where they are placed in the drop zone with just one win in 13 matches.

Speaking about the development live on talkSPORT, Jordan was of the opinion that this might be the end of his managerial career for Bruce.

West Brom

“I’d be surprised if it isn’t [the end],” he said. “He spoke about it potentially being it after Newcastle and that may be because of the experiences towards the end when it got very personal with certain sections of the fan base.

“The West Brom job came up and he talked about the opportunity of going to a football club he can rebuild again. It’s very difficult to argue the case for Steve.

“I was arguing it last week that they were in these games, they’re dominating possession but you can’t take a team whose aspirations were to be in the Premier League to being fourth from bottom in the Championship over a sustained period of time and expect those above you to remain resolute that you’re the right guy.

“When you see altercations with fans the writing starts to be on the wall. You need a result, last week they played Preston, had 20 shots on goal, lose 1-0, Saturday they’re dominant so it would seem and they draw 0-0. So it does seem to be the curtain closing on an interesting managerial career.”

Right call

West Brom came into the season hoping to improve what they did last year where they finished in 10th place, eight points behind sixth-placed Luton Town.

However, this season, as of now, has been nothing short of a horror dream for the Baggies where they have only managed to register 11 points from 13 matches.

As things stand, the side are 13 points behind already to league leaders Sheffield United and 10 behind sixth-placed Swansea City which means that their aspiration of coming back to the Premier League seems all but over.

Therefore, the board finally made the right call and remove the manager who was not been able to get the best out of the available lot.

It is important that now the management must find someone who can get the team together and start pushing the players so they can start delivering the way they should’ve been in the past.

In other West Brom news, speculation is only set to increase surrounding one name as the Baggies job is now available
