David Prutton predicts result of must-win West Brom clash v Reading

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton believes it can’t get much worse for West Brom ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash against Reading.

The Baggies finally got rid of manager Steve Bruce on Monday morning but will head into the fixture managerless and in desperate need of points.

Prutton admitted Bruce’s departure was “inevitable” but believes the absence of Albion’s former gaffer may help the Baggies finally gain some points in a score draw.

West Brom

“It’s the first time all season that Reading have failed to win in back-to-back games, which shows what an incredible campaign they’ve put together so far,” said Prutton as quoted by Sky Sports.

“It’s also been a couple of really tough fixtures, so it’s not too much to worry about yet.

“West Brom parted company with Steve Bruce, which was inevitable after the results they’ve had. It remains to be seen who they appoint, but with the squad they have they can hardly get much worse. Score draw here for me.”

West Brom

It can’t.

Prutton is completely right here, it can’t get much worse for the Albion, can it? Let’s hope this is the start of a fruitful spell for the Baggies.

With a new head coach yet to be appointed it will be interesting to see how the side fares without the guidance of Bruce looming over them.

Anything other than a loss may indicate it was indeed Bruce’s wrongdoing all along and a new coach with a different philosophy can guide the club to better times.

Whether or not this is the case remains to be seen, Reading will be a tough game to crack the bad form in, they’ve been flying high until two recent fixtures.

Nevertheless, it may be the best time to play them on their current bad blip, but the Baggies desperately need three points.

Bruce leaving the club feels like a chapter has been closed, let’s hope the club’s hierarchy doesn’t mess up with who they appoint as the Albion’s boss next.

In other West Brom news, one candidate who is currently available is already set for talks with the club.
