Sky Sports pundit raves about Grady Diangana after West Brom star spotted back in training

We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…

Grady Diangana was spotted back in West Brom training this week and Kevin Campbell believes the 24-year-old can provide a big boost in the second half of the season.

Diangana came off the bench for a small cameo against Stoke back in November, but the Baggies star winger continued to struggle with injury over the winter break.

However, news broke during the club’s training camp in Spain that Diangana was edging closer to a return, with Express & Star reporting that he was due back in training this week.

The return of the Championship on Monday against Sunderland will likely come too early in Diangana’s recovery timeline, but he’s inching closer to a first-team return – something Campbell believes will be a big boost to both fans and players.

Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “On his day, he’s one of the best in the Championship.

“He’s an unbelievable player. With his quality, he scores goals, gets assists, makes things happen.

So I’m sure him being back in and around the squad is going give a lot of people – and the fans – a big boost as he’s a real dynamic player.

Campbell’s assessment is spot on – Diangana certainly is one of the best in the division on his day. He’s struggled for fitness and consistency this season, but Carlos Corberan will be eager to get the best out of him.

With Jed Wallace and Diangana out wide and the trio of Daryl Dike, Karlan Grant and Brandon Thomas-Asante all providing goals in the second half of the season, the Baggies could be a real force as they push up the table.

It’s down to Corberan to utilise his attacking firepower efficiently, but the Spaniard has already shown promising signs of improving a number of Albion stars. Diangana could be the next on his list.
