Sky Sports pundit delighted by West Brom contract extension for Kyle Bartley – ‘That’s how it should be’
We’re delighted to welcome former West Brom striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at The Hawthorns…
Kyle Bartley extended his West Brom contract by one year this week after triggering an appearance-based clause in his current deal.
Bartley will stay at The Hawthorns until Summer 2024 after extending his current deal at the club. As announced by West Brom’s official website, the 32-year-old defender will stay on for another season after hitting an appearance milestone.
Prior to the announcement, Bartley looked headed for the exit at The Hawthorns with his deal expiring in just a few months’ time.

But he’s experienced a purple patch of form under new boss Carlos Corberan, and Kevin Campbell is particularly pleased to see the centre-back stick around for another year.
Speaking exclusively to West Brom News, Campbell said: “Yeah I’m happy about that because obviously Kyle Bartley has been the main defender at the club for a while now.
“Isn’t it funny how things work out? Earlier on in the season he was getting stick, looked like he wasn’t going to be staying – the new manager comes in, he has an uptick in form and now he’s back being the main man and he extends his stay by a year.
“That’s how it should be.
“Sometimes you have to go through the trials and tribulations of getting a new manager in to get the uptick in form, but I’m pleased with the Bartley news.“

Just a few months ago, the majority of the Baggie fanbase would’ve wanted to see the back of Bartley as soon as possible.
However, he’s undergone an incredible change under Corberan, scoring and playing extremely well in the Spaniard’s first handful of games.
Bartley sadly missed the Sunderland clash on Monday, but can hopefully celebrate his extension by featuring against Rotherham on Saturday afternoon.
