Jonny Drury fumes as West Brom share Guochuan Lai update
Jonny Drury has been left fuming after West Brom confirmed on 31 December that Guochuan Lai has extended the deadline for loan repayment which he was supposed to pay last month.
The Express and Star journalist reacted to the official tweet from the club as an “absolute disgrace”.
Lai was supposed to pay back a £4.95 million loan to West Brom by 31 December.
Wisdom Smart Corporation Limited, who took out the loan for Lai, have assured the club’s board of directors that the repayment will be made early in the New year.
“Absolute disgrace but what else did we expect. This cannot continue,” wrote Drury on Twitter.
Hopeless
While Carlos Corberan is trying his best to take West Brom back to where they belong, the off-the-pitch situations are really troubling the club.
Last week (28 December) the Baggies secured a £20 million four-year loan against all of their assets which will be used to finance the general business operations of the football club.
Many had expected that Lai would pay that amount in time, which could have been used in signing new players at the club in the January window.

After winning seven games out of their last eight, Corberan would have liked to have a decent January budget to operate in the market.
He needed financial support to make the squad even better but the news will come as a blow.
Drury is absolutely right that fans shouldn’t expect anything better from Lai who has no interest in understanding the game and the sentiments of the fans.
Corberan continues to weave magic with the players he has got, but his job could have been easier with more support from the club.
