West Brom predicted XI v Chesterfield – Semi Ajayi to start, Daryl Dike rested

Carlos Corberan will be looking to continue West Brom’s tremendous post-World Cup form when they travel to non-league outfit Chesterfield in the 3rd round of the FA Cup.

The former Huddersfield Town coach will more than likely make wholesale changes as he looks to keep players fresh for their Sky Bet Championship promotion push, and the game against Chesterfield will be a great opportunity for much of Corberan’s fringe stars to make an impression.

Tom Rogic could go back into the side, in place of John Swift who started their triumph over Reading on Monday. In-form striker Daryl Dike will more than likely be given a rest for this game, which could see Thomas-Asante come in place of the American.

Asante is no stranger to goals, having scored five in the Championship so far this season, so he’d be a reliable presence up front for Corberan.

The Spaniard is also likely to name a much-changed attack, with Grady Diangana and Karlan Grant – quality alternatives – likely given the opportunity to force themselves into the manager’s thinking for their next league fixture against Luton Town next weekend.

Taylor Gardner-Hickman replaced Molumby late on against Reading and could almost certainly be given a start against Chesterfield, as will Jake Livermore in a much-changed midfield personnel.

There will also be much change in defence and Corberan will be boosted by the return of Semi Ajayi from injury, and in order to get valuable minutes in his legs, a start against non-league opposition seems the perfect and ideal opportunity.

In fact, it will most likely be a totally different back-line with Martin Kelly partnering Ajayi at centre-back and Ingram and Reach flanking them at full-back. David Button will almost certainly start in goal in place of Alex Palmer.
