West Brom transfer news as Stoke City make approach for Karlan Grant loan deal

Stoke City have made an approach for West Brom striker Karlan Grant as Alex Neil looks to add more firepower to his squad, according to TEAMtalk.

The 25-year-old has returned from injury and was in the squad for the Baggies’ Championship fixture against Burnely on Friday evening (20 January).

TEAMtalk suggest Stoke have enquired about the former Huddersfield man’s availability, as they eye a potential loan move for the remainder of the campaign.

Keep him

Brandon Thomas-Asante and Daryl Dike have been impressive under Carlos Corberan since his arrival at The Hawthorns and it will be interesting to see how the Spaniard assesses Grant’s situation at the club. The 25-year-old still has all the attributes to be a clinical Championship striker.

He struggled in the first half of the campaign under Steve Bruce and has yet to really get going under the new boss. Having three strikers is ideal for Corberan – particularly with two of them in red-hot form. However, it will be a balancing act when it comes to keeping all of them happy.

Grant will want to be playing week-in and week-out and unfortunately, there won’t be space in the starting eleven for all three of Corberan’s striking options.

A loan could well be an option for Albion to consider, with Stoke not a direct rival at present. Ensuring players are happy and playing regularly is important and a move away from The Hawthorns could potentially revive Grant’s fortunes for the start of the 2023/24 campaign.

In other West Brom news, the Baggies are in the hunt to sign this Brighton and Hove Albion striker, and they aren’t the only Championship club interested.
