West Brom in talks with Fulham midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah, deal not quite completed yet – Nizaar Kinsella

West Brom are in talks with Nathanial Chalobah as they aim to sign the Fulham midfielder to bolster their playoff hopes according to the London Evening Standard.

The 28-year-old midfielder has been with Fulham since 2021 and Standard journalist Nizaar Kinsella says the Baggies are aiming to acquire his services on an 18-month deal.

West Brom are currently a single point outside of the last playoff spot and will look to use this acquisition to make a big push in the second half of the season.

Excellent Midfield Depth

This would be an excellent pickup for West Brom as they look to solidify their push into the playoff positions this season. The Baggies have an established midfield pairing of Okay Yokuslu and Jayson Molumby who have both been performing well, but Chalobah would add some physicality, experience and technical quality to the midfield cohort.

Chalobah is no stranger to the demands of the Championship having had four separate loan stints over his career, most recently with Reading in 2015. The ex-Watford man has also won promotion twice with both the Hornets and Fulham. He has amassed over 80 appearances in the league, and will no doubt know the standard that is required to help West Brom get back to the Premier League.

West Brom

The English midfielder hasn’t seen the pitch much this year having made only four Premier League appearances for Fulham. Such limited game time should have Chalobah fresh and rearing to compete for what might be the most tightly contested playoff race in years.

West Brom are in a precarious position financially due to the recent actions of the Chinese ownership so this window was going to be quiet. However, if the Baggies manage to pull off this signing, it would represent excellent value for money and provide added quality to a team that is already performing well.

In other West Brom news, this striker has been spotted at Birmingham New Street ahead of joining the Baggies.
