Lewis O’Brien close to joining West Brom on loan in January
Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien is “close to joining” West Brom on loan, as reported by Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas.
Sky Sports have reported on their transfer live feed (28 January, 10:13 am) that the midfielder is close to finalising a move for the rest of the season.
The 24-year-old midfielder has made 13 appearances in the Premier League this season and has scored one goal.
“Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien is close to joining West Brom on loan until the summer. Harry Toffolo is also nearing a move to Anderlecht on loan,” wrote Thomas on Twitter.

Terrific addition
It’s a strange decision from Forest. O’Brien arrived only in July from Huddersfield Town, but he is set to be shipped out on loan.
Forest are looking to trim the squad following the arrivals of Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo and Chris Wood. O’Brien started the season brightly but he has started since their 4-0 defeat against Leicester City at the beginning of October.
He has not been picked in match day squad, and a move to West Brom will benefit him.

Carlos Corberan has previously worked with him at Huddersfield and he knows what to expect from him. O’Brien was an outstanding player for Huddersfield, and he will be a tremendous addition for the Baggies.
West Brom need a bit of quality in their squad as they aim for promotion, and O’Brien can provide that. He has wealth of Championship experience and most importantly can resurrect his career under his former manager once again.
The Baggies have been linked with a move for Nathaniel Chalobah as well (The Daily Mail; 28 January, page 113), but it seems a deal for O’Brien is more likely.
Let’s hope the Baggies can secure his signature in the next few days.
In other West Brom news, this striker has been spotted at Birmingham New Street ahead of joining the Baggies.
