Carlos Corberan must bury hatchet and revive Karlan Grant, he could be key to West Brom playoff hopes
West Brom boss Carlos Corberan must bury the hatchet and revive Karlan Grant’s Albion career again as he could hold the tools to kickstart their playoff hopes again.
The striker was poised to complete a late deadline day switch to fellow Sky Bet Championship outfit Swansea City, however, the paperwork for the deal wasn’t completed before the 11 PM deadline.
Wales Online [31 January] reported that the two clubs were even said to have made contact with each other over what time they should announce the deal of Grant to take place. However, it wasn’t to be and the 25-year-old had to remain at the Hawthorns for the rest of the season.

Grant has unfortunately been a bit-part player for the club this term, only making 13 starts all campaign and just four since the Spaniard was appointed at the end of October.
The situation the striker is facing right now is following a rather familiar pattern under the same manager after the forward was sold by Corberan at Huddersfield Town not long after being appointed in 2020.
Many of the Baggies will be left baffled and perplexed at how the forward is being treated right considering his tremendous goalscoring abilities – something Corberan’s proposed main man Daryl Dike is struggling to achieve right now.
Throughout the club’s struggles under Steve Bruce last term, Grant was simply superb registering 18 goals and six assists from 44 Championship games. Such stats in a relatively poor team is no mean feat and goes to show the quality that Grant possesses in his attacking weaponry.
The Baggies have hit a rocky path of late, winning just one of their last five games and also the goals have seemed to dry up too failing to score more than a single goal since mid-January.

Dike, Diangana, Wallace, and Swift have all struggled in front of goal in recent weeks, and Thomas-Asante is still finding his way in the Albion setup after a three-game stretch with suspension. Grant has proven he can score goals at this level, also scoring 19 goals for Huddersfield Town during the 2019/20 campaign before Corberan shipped him off to The Hawthorns.
With the season entering its crucial period, it’s imperative the Spaniard buries the hatchet and revives Grant’s stalled career. Getting him back to the confidence of last season could propel the Baggies to achieve their playoff ambitions come May.
