Ipswich sensation Albie Armin undergoes West Brom trial, he’s now headed for Brentford

Ipswich Town youngster Albie Armin has spent time on trial with West Brom over the past week, according to reliable Tractor Boys source, TWTD.

Armin, 18, is out of contract at the end of the 2022/23 season and is expected to be released by the East Anglian club (TWTD, 4 April).

It’s believed the central defender trained with the Baggies’ development squad last week and that he is now with Brentford’s B team. Armin has made just three appearances for the Blues, all coming in the Papa Johns Trophy.

Move on

Considering Ipswich are a league below the Baggies, this is one the club should maybe look to avoid if he is available. West Brom should focus on developing their own talent as opposed to throwing an opportunity at a player who is not deemed good enough by a League One side.

Furthermore, considering he is now on trial with Brentford, this is one we shouldn’t read too far into. Younger players are vitally important, but, at present, the board’s focus will be on other more significant matters. The top six is still within reach, but a strong end to the 2022/23 season is a must.

With the off-the-field issues also rumbling on in the background, it’s unlikely Carlos Corberan and the club hierarchy will be paying much attention to younger prospects who could come through the ranks and make an impact. It’s a route to certainly look at, but when the Baggies are in a far healthier financial state.

In other West Brom news, Corberan has revealed that Dara O’Shea is likely to be ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury.
